Amanda Brugel
Pointe Claire, a quiet area within the West Island of Montreal is something you could call a "sleepy" area. Most people who do not know the name mistakenly believe that"the" West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually it is the West Island includes everything westward of that city Lachine. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel grew in Courtice close to Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a dancer, but the rapid growth of her body led to she was able to outgrow her dance partner. In an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall while wearing heels. As I grew older than my male counterparts I stopped. For Brugel, it was her encouragement from a drama teacher from her high school that inspired her to start acting. The teacher was the one who recommended her to audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. The student tried it out, and was eventually cast as the lead in Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program and earned the Bachelor in Fine Arts degree in 2000. For the last twenty years she has had her in more than 60 movies and TV productions. The most well-known role was as Rita (shown below) on The Handmaid's Tale. Brugel, the only Canadian for the Season 1 Cast of the show and only seen occasionally was the sole Canadian.
